Comments about Danish School Bag- Olive Drab:
I'm a graphic illustrator and writer who looked extensively online for an inexpensive, washable, roomy, flexible carry-all that would let me carry a lot of stuff - not only to and from work, but also into the field. This bag has to accommodate the endless books I read as well as the art supplies and notebooks I work with every day. Not to mention the watercolor field kit, a small bottle of water, irreplaceable brushes and calligraphy pens and inks.
I despaired of finding any carry-all that wasn't leather and hundreds of dollars, until I fell upon an online review of this very bag. The measurements seemed right, it wouldn't care if I spilled ink in it (it's washable! just be sure to air dry it), the price was a bargain, and the bag is easily replaceable if I manage to wear it out. The bag itself won't go out of production since the military has used them for years.
Anyway, the bag is perfect. The shoulder strap is ultra-wide and comfy. The only thing I'd change is the strap arrangement, as it's awkward to try carrying it about without fastening the velcro straps. I've yet to have those straps fail, even when I load the bag with heavy notebooks and books. You can unzip the bottom to make it wider (and hold more!), and there are a couple of pockets to stuff in extras.
If you're looking for a solid, reliable carry-all that isn't awkward on your shoulder and holds much more than you think it will (including those big three-ring binders holding 8.5 x 11 or A4 paper), this is the bag for you.
One warning: it's NOT a fashion statement, so don't expect it to behave like one. The cloth is durable, but it attracts pet hair like crazy, so if you're upset by lint and things getting on your clothes, you'd best buy something in plastic or leather.
But if you want form that followed function - something you can cram full of your stuff and it won't rip; something you can depend on; this is the bag for you or your kid. There's room for a laptop computer and plenty more.
One thing I should perhaps mention, but it's very minor: the ruler that comes with it is kind of lame, you'll want to buy your own and slide it into the space provided.
