I actually bought this product to round out my Indiana Jones costume. And it is a perfect addition. When it arrived it did have a strong aroma of being stored for a while. I put it in the wash and air dryed and it took care of it with no damage to the bag.

I use this to carry my survival kit. This includes BCB British water bottle with plastic cup and the crusader stainless cup and stove. Esbit fuel for stove, matches, compass. Food (MRE's)x2 and other survival related gear. All of this hanging and easy to reach on my shoulder. No backpack. Hauls alot, but not a burden in the field.

I bought this item for my husband's Indiana Jones Halloween costume--[...] looks just like the picture. The only drawback is its musty smell!! I'm letting it air out in the garage, and hopefully it will dissipate. Ugh!

[...] Not really an antique as advertised. I was expecting WWII stuff and these are made in the 70-80s and so marked. Nice shape and very useful though. I use them to carry Solothurn mags and accs. Works just fine. They are light to medium duty and were originally made as rations bags for the Swiss military.
