[...].I intend to use the vest for backpacking and as an avid backpacker I believe it can fulfill that function properly.The zippers are not the best quality, but the product is made well enough to be modified with buttons of a more sturdy zipper if desired (or needed). This vest is not insulated at all. It should only be considered a cargo vest with minimal aid in keeping you warm. There is no hood. The product is also Made in China.All that said, this vest is a pretty good buy (and ArmyNavyDeals.com seams to be a pretty good seller), and it can definitely fulfill most of your outdoors needs. There is room in the pockets for me to place a rain poncho, a handgun, spare ammo, food bars, a compass, a knife, an emergency blanket, water purification pellets (or medicine), a small first aid kit, and much much more. You might not even need a daypack with this vest (seriously).I'd give this product 5 Stars if I wasn't an avid backpacker and I didn't suspect that the zippers "might" fail in rather cold weather. Though, like I said, the product is made well enough to modify it with a better zipper and/or other fasteners.
